Match Report (GRCC vs RICC)

The weather was cloudy and wicket was a little wet with the previous day's rain. GRCC won the toss and put RICC in to bat first. For GRCC, Vishnu and Hari started with the new ball and were bowling in a very controlled manner. But opener Moiz from RICC was in great form and hit clear boundaries on the rise. The way he started the innings, RICC were 20 for no loss in the first 3 overs. Vicky came in to the bowling attack in the 5th over and restricted the scoring. In the 6th Over, Hari got Moiz’s wicket with an excellent out swinging ball and a great catch from Vicky. After that RICC were trying to build partnerships but kept losing wickets at regular intervals. At one stage they were 104 for 4 and cruising well, but at that time the bowling change of bringing Surendra and Vivek into attack worked well for GRCC. Vivek bowled extremely well and took 3 quick wickets. On the other end Surendra supported well with his off spin bowling to contain the scores. GRCC’s ground fielding was excellent. Vicky & Vivek chipped in with couple run outs to bundle out RICC for 136 in 29 overs.

GRCC started their batting with Saket and Abhishek. Although the target was a small one, Saket was in a very aggressive mood and scored 2 boundaries in the first over, over the cover point area. The way he started hitting RICC bowlers, GRCC reached 40 in the first 3 overs. Saket exhibited some excellent cricket shots and RICC never got a chance to come back in the game. One pull shot played by Saket over mid wicket for 6 against fast bowler Arif was really a treat to watch. At one end when Saket was playing quick firing strokes, Abhishek supported well by taking some singles and rotating the strike.

GRCC reached the target of 137 in just 17 overs without losing any wickets. Saket scored an excellent 75 not out and was well supported by Abhishek with 35 no out.

Man of the match: Shared between Vivek and Saket. Vivek for his great bolwing spell of 3 for 15 in 6 overs and Saket for scintillating batting with 75 n.o.
