Match Report (GRCC vs ROCC @ ROCC)

It was a beautiful day for cricket. Bright sunny day and cool breeze.

Both team were on ground in time and so was Ron Knight. ROCC won the toss and elected to bat. Hari and Hirenbhai started well. Just when Hirenbhai started to loosen up his arm Hari ( GRCC) struck twice in one over to remove the openers. Ashu joined Dipen in the middle and started the repair work. Just when the partnership was settling in GRCC struck twice again to remove Dipen and Amar. After adding 30 odd runs Vishal ran out and with scorecard showing 88/5 in 19 overs ROCC was in a tight spot. Dhimant joined Ashu and there was still a long batting to come. After settling in Dhimant started going after GRCC bowlers. He brought up his 50 in no time. HIs inning included 6 sixes. Ashu on other end continued to play his role of Anchor-man. ROCC were aiming for 200. Ashu changed his gears with astonishin ease and brought up his own half century by hitting 20 runs in a over. Vishnu's triple strike in last over brought a screeching halt to ROCC inning but they had achieved their target and set 202 to win for GRCC.

ROCC supporters (too many to name) prepared excellent grilled food for "appetizers" and Lunch was provided by Sauvrin and Sheetal Patel.

GRCC started their chase cautiously. ROCC was looking for a breakthrough early in the inning. Captain Dhimant got the break by catching Ajay off his own bowling. Sauvrin set up a ball for Abhisek to hit and he went for it. The top edge flew towards deep cover. Hari who was inside the circle took the amazing catch to get ROCC their second wicket. Later Sauvrin returned the favor by taking a brilliant forward diving catch off Hari's bowling to end Sameer's inning. ROCC fielded well to keep the pressure up. After 2nd drinks GRCC needed 90 off 11 overs. Rajeev Khanna was playing well. He was putting all his experience to use. His inning ended becauase of a brilliant direct hit by Hari from point area. Ashu kept things tight at one end and kept on taking wickets regularly. Ultimately ROCC won by 50 runs.

Thanks again to ROCC supporters for keeping up team's spirit.

Good bowling by GRCC - in particular Hari and Vishnu for 4 wickets each. Surender bowled well but was unlucky in getting wickets.
